Established in 2003, BGC Trust Medical College (GMC) is the largest quality medical college and hospital for the poor and deprived rural population.BGC Trust Medical College is a non-profit academic institution authorized by the government and supported by the Begum Gul Chemonara (BGC) Trust.

Class Rooms:

There are 5 big classrooms with full air conditioning and closed-circuit televisions for lessons. Additionally, departmental tutorial rooms are connected to the departments concerned. Air conditioning is available in the Anatomy Dissection Hall. Different department labs such as pathology, biochemistry, etc. are well equipped with tools.

Audiovisual Facility:

The overhead projector, slide projector and microphone system are provided for each class. Furthermore, there are also multimedia projectors and computers for learning.

Library:

On the first floor, the College has a contemporary fully air-conditioned library. The library has a collection of more than 6674 books, including the recent costly monographs. It subscribes on an annual basis to 16 global medical journals. The library has lodged at any specified moment to seat 100 learners and 15 professors. Attached to the library is the Medical Education Unit (MEU). The Medical Unit has five personal computers for learners and faculty members to use. Fax, Internet and e-mail services are accessible free of charge and are commonly used. MEDLINE database (1966 to the present) can be found on CD ROMs and online via the Internet. It is also available on CD Rom and video cassettes are teaching materials.

Canteen Facility:

The large and spacious canteen is situated on the Medical College Campus, providing learners and educators with hygienic food.

The College is affiliated with Chittagong University and is accredited by the Medical & Dental Council of Bangladesh (BM&DC) to provide quality medical education, research and services to the people of this country at a reasonable cost.

In addition, the University is also acknowledged by the World Health Organization, India’s Medical Council and the International Medical Education and Research Advancement Foundation.

Internship at BGC Trust Medical College:

The internship of the BGC Medical College is optional, but not compulsory, especially for Indian students. Indian learners can choose any college in their home town for their internship. Even students can choose to do an internship in any international colleges. The premises of the university will provide the global internship requirements needed.

How to get Admission at BGC Trust Medical College for Indian students:

An applicant seeking admission to the BGC Trust Medical College must submit a request in the prescribed form and must be filled in by him/herself during office hours at the BGC Trust Medical College. The student can also submit a request to the BGC Trust (Corporate Office).

Application form to be presented in conjunction with the prescribed enclosures & duly filled in:

  • Photocopies of all educational certificates and mark sheets certified.
  • Attested two copies of the candidates’ latest passport size pictures.
  • A Certified photocopy of the DGHS acceptance card.
  • Attested photocopy of the DGHS consequence of the MBBS Course admission test.
  • A certificate from the Headman (Cast Chief) & Deputy Commissioner will have to be included in the application form for applicants seeking recognition as applicants of tribal population and/or non-tribal residents of hill counties.

Clearance from the Bangladesh Embassy:

The papers and passport copies listed above should be forwarded for clearance to the Bangladesh embassy. It is necessary to send the authorization copy together with the application form to the college for confirmation of admission. The student can travel to the college for the classes to begin upon obtaining permission.

Steps to get admission in the BGC Trust Medical College:

The Director-General of Government of Bangladesh’s Health Services will perform a written National Level admission test to identify qualified Govt admission applicants. The Health Services Director General, Director of Medical Education (DGHS) will publish a list of merits for qualified applicants. Students applying for admission to the BGC Trust Medical College from the list of merits will be chosen by the college authority according to their list of merits.

BGC Trust Medical College Hostel Life:

All male learners currently live in the hostel, arranged by the college authority in the neighbouring Chandanaish campus region. Female learners have their own “Mother Theresa Girl’s Hostel.”The college authority has planned to host all-male students within the campus or surrounding area with the purpose of making the college a fully residential, until then the college authority will provide transportation facilities for the students.
