Kyiv Medical University of UAFM the Kharkiv Branch is a Ukrainian higher learning institution. Established in 1992 in Kyiv, it has opened a new branch in early 2018 in Kharkiv city. The branch in Kharkiv has successfully started training foreign medical students as it is a popular university in the heart of Kharkiv City.
As a university with the highest level of accreditation by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, all degrees issued to foreign students are dully legalized and apostilized by the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Ukraine. Kyiv Medical University (KMU) is recognized and listed in all relevant international directories of medical universities such as the International Medical Education Directory
(IMED). This means graduates are eligible to write the United States Medical Licensing Examinations and means certificates are recognized by the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) in US and the Medical Council of Canada (MCC) for eligibility of graduates to obtain certification and Licensure hence may pursue residency and postgraduate programs in these countries.
The students learn different subjects from fundamental disciplines to special medical subjects during six years.
Foreigners study in small groups with six to ten other international students. Lectures take place daily and are attended by all students of the groups. Training in the university is constantly controlled by testing the students’ knowledge in each class. At the end of each topic a final control is provided by passing tests and examinations in subjects studied during this term. From the beginning of the second year until the last academic year students attend practical classes to gain experience.

What is ECTS?
ECTS guarantees academic recognition of studies abroad.
ECTS enables further studies abroad. A student may prefer not to go back to the home institution after the study period abroad, but rather to stay at the host institution — possibly to gain a degree — or to move to a third institution. The institutions themselves decide whether or not this is acceptable and what conditions the student must fulfil in order to get a diploma or transfer registration.
6 years training include 13,474 hours :
Humanitarian subjects — 1,576 hours
Social-economic subjects — 432 hours
Fundamental /general scientific/ subjects — 2,180 hours
Professionally oriented subjects — 6,098 hours
Elective courses — 324 hours
Practical training — 972 hours
Subinternship /in the 6-th year — 1,892 hours
The final state examination according to the syllabus are held through two stages in the 6th year:
1.Written State Exam
2. Oral and Practical State Exam
The students who passed the final state exams and completed the six academic years will be awarded with the medical degree.
There is a wide range of specialization available in the public and private sectors, involving research, academic medicine, public health, clinical medicine and other areas. Specialties include Cardiology, Oncology, Pediatrics, Psychological Medicine, Surgery, Pathology, Public Health, General Practice and many others.
Most doctors complete postgraduate training in their chosen specialty Medicine is a respected, rewarding, and truly international career.
Every student undergoes one year of clinical rotations in subjects such as Internal medicine, pediatrics, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology and other additive subjects during their final year of education.
The Internship declares any student completing the curriculum as a complete doctor and the same is accepted all over the world except India.
In India a student has to finish his screening test and undergo a compulsory rotatory internship in India before he/she gets his permanent registration in Medical Council of India or license to practice as a physician.

All educational programs are regulated and approved by the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine. The degrees and certificates issued to graduated foreign students by EduPedia Overseas Universities are legalized by the Ukrainian Ministry of Health and Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Students from India are eligible to sit for the National Board of Examination (NBE) and register with the Medical Council of India (MCI); after obtaining an “Eligibility Certificate” from the MCI prior to sitting for the Competency test conducted by the NBE and complying with any other guide-lines of the certification authority.
